“you look beautiful” vs. “you are beautiful”
The difference is so subtle but means so much.
My dad always makes a big point about this. Calling us beautiful, me and my sisters, instead of focusing on our appearance but rather our entire being. If you haven’t gotten it yet, that is what my whole blog is all about. There are two different kinds of beautiful. Looking beautiful and being beautiful.
One thing we fail to do as woman is make sure we describe each other as beautiful in the right sense. A beautiful person is not based on what they look like. It is based on their entire being. People are beautiful. In the way they walk with confidence, in the way they speak passionately about something or someone, in the way they care for each other.
People are beautiful.
When you see someone’s eyes light up after receiving a gift whatever it may be.
When a child smiles for the first time and greats an uproar of joy from everyone watching.
When a mother sees her child accomplish something great and proud tears stream down her face.
People are beautiful.
When long lost friends finally reunite.
When two future lovers kiss for the first time.
When a group of teens head down to the beach in the wee hours of the night just for fun and are filled with laughter.
When the windows are down on a long drive and people’s hair is everywhere and the music is loud.
People are beautiful.
You are beautiful.
You can look beautiful through certain tasks of self- “improvement”
But you can’t make a person be beautiful.
They already are.
Just let them know and they’ll shine brighter than the stars above.
Have you ever told someone something along the lines of a compliment and they just light up?
They take in a breath and let it out like a surprising relief.
Their eyes glow and their cheeks turn pink.
They become so beautiful when filled with love from head to toe, all from something you said.
Our words to each other are so powerful, down to the structure of our sentences.
You are beautiful vs. you look beautiful.
If an uplifting word is so effective on someone, imagine a destructive word.
Imagine watching that light shatter. You can easily see a heart break into a million pieces in someones eyes.
People are so beautiful and so fragile. No matter how tough a human being acts, there is a small child inside of them who was broken by something. People are so fragile. Isn’t it strange how the most beautiful things in life are so fragile?
